Cambodian’s Film Was Selected in Busan International Film Festival 2017

A Cambodian comedy movie, Poppy Goes to Hollywood, directed by Visal SOK, was selected in 22nd Busan International Film Festival 12-21 October 2017.

Poppy Goes to Hollywood is remarkably a movie with the “third gender”, it in particular relates the struggles of the LGBT community in today society. Also, it could be “the first mainstream genderqueer-friendly feature produced in Cambodia”, according to Phnom Penh Post(2016).

The film follows as a witness to Phnom Penh murder, two-bit loser Mony decides the best place to hide is with his transgender older brother in a countryside club called Hollywood. Disguised as the dancer Poppy, Mony evades police and gangsters by really getting into his new identity.
